Safety Tech & AI

Practical AI.  Real Systems.  Better Work.

01 / Understand

Find where AI actually pays off

Start with the work, not the tool. We map how your business actually runs, then rank where AI is worth the effort, and, just as usefully, where it is not. You get a shortlist you can cost, not a list of possibilities.

02 / Build

Tools your team will genuinely use

Apps, agents, and automated workflows built around your process and the systems you already run. Working software in front of real users in weeks, not a proof of concept that never leaves the demo.

03 / Own

Capability that stays inside your business

We build with your people, not around them. When we step back, your team understands what was built, can extend it, and can keep going without us. The point is capability, not a dependency.

A second business, built on the same discipline

Alongside the safety consultancy, ProperSafe helps New Zealand businesses put AI to work. Five years hands-on, from the first genuinely useful models through to production agents, backed by a degree in digital media, psychology, and multimedia. The psychology is the part that matters most: AI projects rarely fail on the technology. They fail on the people who were never brought along.

This is not advice from the outside. We have built and shipped a whole suite of apps in-house, on real deadlines, with real users and real data. NeuroSafe, HazardMap, Bowtie, Haz Subs, SOP Builder and more, for safety professionals, for businesses, and for the public. Every one taken from concept and design through to a fully built, private, secure backend. See the apps →

That means we know where this gets hard, privacy, security, and integration with the systems you already run, and we can get your team past the roadblocks in days or weeks rather than the years it took us. In a field moving this fast, that head start is the whole offer.

AI services for NZ businesses

From working out where AI is worth the effort, through training your team, building the tools, and keeping the whole thing private and secure.

01

AI Opportunity Mapping

A short, honest audit of where AI earns its keep in your business. You get a ranked shortlist of what to build first, what it is worth, and, just as importantly, what to leave alone.

02

AI Literacy & Team Training

Practical, role-based sessions for leaders, admin, operations, and field staff. What the tools do well, where they quietly fail, and what always needs a human check before it goes out.

03

Build-With-You Coaching

For teams who want to build it themselves. We work alongside your people as they ship their first apps, agents, and workflows, so the capability stays in the business when we leave.

04

Custom Apps & Agents

When you need it built, we build it. Internal tools, dashboards, and agents that do real work against your real data, the same way we built our own suite of six apps for safety professionals, businesses, and the public.

05

Privacy, Security & Safe Adoption

What can and cannot go into an AI tool, where your data actually ends up, who has access, and an AI use policy people will follow. Written for the Privacy Act 2020, not for a filing cabinet.

06

Systems & ICT Integration

Making AI work with the systems you already run rather than replacing them. APIs, existing ICT, and your IT provider kept in the loop instead of worked around.

Our Approach

The AI adoption ladder, one rung at a time

Explore Building literacy and confidence. Low-risk experiments where a wrong answer costs nothing.
Assist AI in the daily work. Drafting, summarising, checking, researching. The fastest payback and the easiest place to start.
Automate Repetitive work that runs on its own. The handoffs, the re-keying, and the reports nobody wants to write.
Own Purpose-built software your business owns, integrated with your systems and extended by your own people.

Most AI programmes stall on the bottom rung. A licence gets bought, a policy gets written, a few people get quietly good at it, and nothing about how the work gets done actually changes. That is not adoption. It is the appearance of adoption.

We start by working out honestly which rung you are standing on, then move you up one at a time. Skipped rungs are exactly where the privacy breaches, the shadow tools, and the abandoned pilots come from, so each step is proven with real users before the next one starts.

The result is a business where AI is part of how the work happens, understood by the people doing it and safe by design rather than by luck. That is what practical AI looks like.

Notes on making AI actually work

Get in touch to discuss

Adoption · June 2026

Why most business AI pilots stall at the demo

The demo always works. What breaks is the handover, the point where a tool has to survive real data, real workloads, and the people who did not build it.

Privacy · May 2026

What you can and cannot put into an AI tool

A plain-language look at business data and the Privacy Act 2020. Where your prompts actually go, what gets retained, and the questions worth asking before you type.

Build · April 2026

Agents or automation: which one do you actually need?

Agents are the headline, but most business problems are solved better and far more cheaply by a plain automated workflow. How to tell which one you are looking at.

Talk about AI in your business

Whether it is a training session for the team, a tool you want built, or a second opinion before you commit to a platform, we are easy to reach and quick to respond. No jargon, no pitch deck.
